artist spotlight: DIRT

When King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard were in need of some sweet Tie Dye shirts we knew just the guy to do it. Dirt is a local Tie Dye company run by Phoenix local Chris Parsons, and is also a prime member of the Hello Merch / Hello Screen Printing family. Chris took the art of Tye Dying and made it his own, even mixing a custom color for the run. Check out more work from Dirt as well as purchase a shirt below.

Artist spotlight: scrojo

This passed weekend NIVA (National Independent Venue Association) put on 36 live stream concerts with a diverse range of musical acts. Along with each act was a personalized poster from different artist. Jason Mraz’s poster really caught our attention with its bright colors that made it very appealing to the eye. The poster was designed by Scrojo who has also worked with such acts like Rae Sremmurd, Silversun Pickups, and The Chainsmokers. You can view more art from Scrojo below as well as check out all 36 posters NIVA has put up that you can purchase.

Riley Gale forever

This week the Hardcore and Metal community took a big hit with the loss of Power Trip’s Riley Gale at the young age of 34. If you ever saw Power trip live, then you would understand as to why we are so distraught. Riley brought a special kind of energy to the stage, and off. To think that the energy is gone fills me with nothing but sadness wishing I can catch just one more Power Trip set. His legend lives on and will be missed dearly. Riley Gale Forever!

70’S BAY AREA PUNKS

Jim Jocoy, traveling between S.F. and L.A., shot portraits of every interesting punk rock personality who caught his eye—with each subject posed amidst the scene’s ruinous and chaotic environment. Some were musicians and some were artists. All were fans and enthusiasts. And they were the original creators of what is regarded as the most potent subculture of the late 20th century. Some of the more celebrated individuals of punk legend featured in this book are Darby Crash, Iggy Pop, Lydia Lunch, Sid Vicious, John Waters, Bruce Connor and members of X, The Cramps, The Avengers, Flipper, The Screamers, The Nuns, and many others.
